King Kami- Creating Music

Meet our featured artist King Kami, who is a 31-year-old rapper from Norwalk, Connecticut. He has now lived in Bridgeport, Connecticut for the past 14 years. He first started making music back in elementary school when he used to write poetry. He became a semi-finalist in a poetry contest at his school and after a while, he took poetry and developed it into music. He had a temper growing up and music was an outlet to write down his frustrations onto paper.

STYLE

His style of music is hip-hop with a mix of R&B. His most successful track is “RIOT” featuring Zenire.

He has released two records since the beginning of the year and they are called “Lord Knows” and “Riot” which was inspired by the injustices that have been done to his people and his community. The record is fueled by the Black Lives Matter movement and it is his way to express his disgust with the power system and how they operate.

King Kami wants to share his message to the world that we need to keep persisting in correcting the wrongs in our system. He also states that we have to stick together and keep our necks out for each other.

INSPIRATION

He is inspired by T.I., Lil Wayne, Ludacris, André 3000, Out Kast, and T-Pain.
